The Harbor School opened its doors for the first time in September of 1968. The school is approved by the New Jersey Department of Education, providing an enhanced alternative program to the public-school districts for students with disabilities. The programs are to meet the academic, functional, social, behavioral and transition needs of the most challenging students.
Alpha School provides immersive academic and therapeutic services for disabled youth serving individuals along the entire autism spectrum, with behavioral and related disabilities, and beyond. Alpha School is a NJDOE, New Jersey Department of Education, APSSD, Approved Private School for Students with Disabilities.

Academy360 Upper School is a program of Spectrum360, offering “Options Across a Lifetime” and serving individuals along the entire autism spectrum and with behavioral and related disabilities. Academy360 Upper School is an approved NJ State Board of Education Private Schools for the disabled, providing Preschool, Autism and Behaviorally Disabled programs.
The Arc Kohler School is a private school for students with developmental delays and disabilities. Our Collaborative Model is a transdisciplinary approach that integrates therapies and educational services in the school setting. Multi-sensory approach includes: progress and theme-based planning, Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLs), Assessment of Functional Living Skills (AFLs), and additional curricular resources including: EdMark, SRA, Handwriting without Tears, TouchMath, and Autism Helper Life Skill & Work Task.
New Road School of Somerset serves students 12 to 21 from grade 7 through post high school graduation. Our programs focus on the students with cognitive, emotional and social issues.
Pillar Care Continuum Elementary School in Livingston serves students ages 3-14 with multiple disabilities from throughout northern New Jersey. The curriculum stresses functional learning - increasing life skills and enhancing a child's ability to gain as much independence as possible. We emphasize self-determination, independence, and communication.
Pillar Care Continuum High School is an 11.5-month program with a full day of functional learning to support the academics program based on the NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards. Students are provided with not only the academic program, but also with physical, occupational and speech therapies services supported by an aquatic therapy program, fitness program, Yoga for students with special needs, Job Coaching to 15 off-site locations in the Essex County area and job site opportunities within the school setting.
The Arc of Essex County's Stepping Stones School is a private non-profit school, designed to meet the developmental and learning needs of children with cognitive impairments including children with Down syndrome. Students are provide with the most up-to-date therapy and educational techniques to achieve their highest potential.
