Program Description:

The Gramon School of the Gramon Family of Schools is an accredited program serving students with autism and other related disabilities by providing effective and individualized instruction for each student. The mission of the Gramon Family of Schools is to prepare students for their lifelong journeys through supportive environments, collaborative relationships and implementation of best practices.

The Gramon School offers a full range of academics and functional life skills experiences. Individual student profiles drive instructional design. Our goal is to connect the classroom to the real world with educational, pre-vocational and social experiences at school and in the community. Our campus includes adapted playgrounds, sensory rooms, life skills apartments, a culinary arts kitchen, a student-run Bistro, 3-D printing, an electronic recycling program, and much more.

Our collaborative clinical team implements research-based practice within an integrated service delivery model. On-staff Board Certified Behavior Analysts address student needs based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Speech-Language Pathologists promote independent functional communication, including use of augmentative and alternative communication systems as appropriate. Physical Therapists focus on developing and improving strength, balance, coordination and mobility. Occupational Therapists provide multi-sensory experiences to refine skills needed for success in everyday life and work settings. Our Counseling Department and nursing staff support student’s emotional and medical needs.

We value family involvement, including staff and parents working together to identify strategies that benefit each child both at school and home. Workshops and training ensure that families are well-informed on current educational and clinical practices, as well as steps for transitions from ages 3 to 21 and beyond. Our Parent Professional Organization supports many programs and events for our students.

Our six-week Extended School Year at the Gramon School provides students an expanded social environment supported through an increase of community outings and field trips. Each day, students continue to progress on their IEP goals and objectives.

The Gramon Family of Schools is proud to be providing specialized educational services since 1939.
