Program Description:
Community High School, established in 1976, offers students a combination of skilled remedial help and a challenging academic curriculum. Through small-
group instruction and innovative teaching, the programs expose students, despite their social, emotional, or learning differences, to a wide range of information
and activities available in the educational mainstream.
The program utilizes a departmentalized organizational structure to addresses the diverse strengths, challenges, learning, social-emotional, and behavioral profiles of each student. This structure allows the school psychologist, teachers, speech-language pathologists, counselors, and social workers to provide more individualized support.
The Community High School program offer instruction in all of the NJ Student Learning Standards unless the IEP specifies an alternate curriculum. The school provides related services per the IEP, including counseling, speech, and OT. The school also has OG reading specialists on staff to provide foundational reading support.
The Community High School Autism program serves students who would benefit from a less restrictive educational environment and prepares students for post-secondary education, employment, and independent living.
