Program Description:
Pillar Care Continuum Elementary School curriculum stresses functional learning – increasing life skills and enhancing a child’s ability to gain as much independence as possible. We emphasize self-determination, independence, and communication.
Speech, physical and occupational therapies are incorporated into the classroom setting and, assistive technology and augmentative communication devices foster greater interaction and choice making. We also have on-site nurses to meet the medical needs of our students.
The school offers an on-site aquatic therapy pool, a newly renovated spacious medical suite, a hippotherapy program, state of the art sensory and vision rooms as well as a 2,500 square foot accessible outdoor play park. In addition, all classes now have IPads and rooms equipped with smart boards.
Also featured at the school is the iCan Program which provides outpatient psychological services including counseling, support groups and social skills groups for children with disabilities and their families. The program also features outpatient ancillary services including speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy and aquatic therapy. These services are offered in the after school hours using the school’s state-of-the-art spaces and equipment.
