private special education school nj - Westbridge Academy studentsProgram Description:

Since 1973, Westbridge Academy offers a powerful, therapeutic based academic and social skills training program for students in grades K-12 experiencing emotional, behavioral and/or learning challenges. Many of our students are consumed with fear, anxiety, and an overwhelming feeling of helplessness that interferes with learning. At Westbridge Academy, we believe that part of our mission is to provide children and adolescents with the security, structure, and consistency that they deserve.

Students are enrolled from various communities located in 8 counties within northern and central NJ. They are provided with the necessary tools and strategies in order to advance and achieve their individual goals. Performance tracking is maintained through review of the IEP (Individualized Education Plan) and the “Student Passport”, a uniquely customized portfolio containing extensive data about the student’s progress.

The elementary, middle and high school programs provide a stimulating curriculum, coupled with therapeutic intervention and support, utilizing a student/teacher ratio of 6:1. Extended School Year (ESY) is offered during the summer to reinforce learning and social skills. High school students can earn additional credits required for graduation.

private special education school nj - Westbridge Academy studentsOur caring faculty is comprised of highly trained instructors, clinicians, and support staff. Every student and family is assigned a “support team” to guide them towards success. Bilingual services are provided to Spanish speaking families and students. The school’s founder was born in Argentina; there are two Latina social workers and several bilingual instructional staff. By working together, our school unites students, parents, teachers and professionals to share in each student’s challenges along with the many accomplishments made while enrolled in our program.

We are committed to returning our students to their local school districts with a stronger skill set and increased self-confidence that serve as a cornerstone for future success. Student tuition is paid for and transportation is provided by the sending school districts.

Our Outreach Dept. is available to address all inquiries about the program.
